Exclusive interview with Liwa al-Tawhid
Mepa News conducted an exclusive interview with Al-Nasser Salah al-Deen Brigades - Liwa al-Tawhid, one of the resistance groups in Gaza.
- First of all, could you tell us about your group, "Al-Nasser Salah al-Deen Brigades - Liwa al-Tawhid"? What are your ideas and goals regarding Gaza and Palestine in general?
Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. We are honoured to be interviewed with you and your media organisation. We appreciate all your journalistic efforts to convey the truth and support the oppressed.
First of all, we are your brothers, "Al-Nasser Salah al-Deen Brigades - Liwa al-Tawhid in Palestine". Our da'wah and military endeavours cover the whole of occupied Palestine. Our creed is the creed of the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah. We follow the way of Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his companions.
Our goal is to liberate our country and its people and establish sharia. We are fighting for this goal.
- Is your group "Liwa al-Tawhi"’ affiliated with the "Al-Nasser Salah al-Deen Brigades", the military wing of the "Popular Resistance Committees", or are you a separate organisation?
The truth is, dear brother, that our activities date back to before the beginning of the blessed Al-Aqsa Intifada (September 2000).
At that time, young people who rejected the Oslo Accords came together and decided to carry out military work under the leadership of the martyr Jamal Abu Samhadana (1963-2006). Essentially, they were a mixture of revolutionaries, Ikhwan members and jihadis in terms of ideas and beliefs. After various events, the ranks began to diverge and each of them continued on its own path.
After this, the martyr Imad Hammad rahimahullah began to organise an intellectually and doctrinally disciplined group. He called it the Resistance Committees and its military wing, Al-Nasser Salah al-Deen Brigades. Within the group, however, there remained those who adhered to an intellectual blend of more than one view. After the martyrdom of Imad Hammad, disagreements arose and our brothers decided that we should split, taking the name Liwa al-Tawhid.
We are an Islamic group operating in occupied Palestine, independent of other communities and groups, and with an independent existence. Our organisation is independent from all other structures and groups in Palestine. We have nothing to do with the Iranian axis. On the contrary, we support the oppressed sons of the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah all over the world.
- What are the latest developments in the fighting in Gaza? Is your group fighting only in Rafah or also in the north of Gaza?
Our military work began in the 2014 war. In the ongoing conflicts and battles in Gaza so far, we have lost many martyrs and provided many capabilities to the resistance fighters.
We are active in every part of the occupied Palestinian territories whenever we have the opportunity. Liwa al-Tawhid carried out military operations in Jerusalem and the occupied territories, as well as operations in the West Bank. However, for the safety of our mujahideen brothers, it is not possible to disclose them.
We have also launched a diligent work of da'wah (in the region). For this reason, we were subjected to harassment from all sides without exception, but this did not break our determination and willpower.
We consider our participation in the ongoing conflicts against the Jewish enemy as a sharia and moral obligation on ourselves and on all our muwahhid brothers in Palestine and around the world.
We have military formations in every part of the Gaza Strip.
- Are you sufficiently prepared to fight the Zionist state of Israel in the coming years? What do you think about the future of the conflict?
We are determined to continue against the enemies of Allah, the Jews, until we achieve one of the two best things (victory or martyrdom), with our adequate faith preparation, our modest weapons and our capabilities to resist them until our last breath.
We realise that the battle with this enemy cannot be resolved except by adhering to the Sunnah of the past and the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and that our battle with the Jews is a battle of the aqeedah.
We call on Muslims all over the world to fulfil their duty to help us and show solidarity with us in whatever way they can.
- How are your relations with Hamas and other resistance groups?
We consider all Islamic groups of all persuasions to be within the boundaries of Islam. We reject, publicly and privately, any action that harms the aqeedah and minhaj, and we advise them through our media platforms.
We treat all groups in accordance with interests and shari'ah principles, and we listen to and obey our leaders regarding them in order to promote the interests and goals of our da'wah and jihad.
- What can you say to Muslims around the world about the situation in Gaza?
Finally, we say to the Muslims that today there is no excuse for anyone to lag behind the supreme cause of the Ummah, and today you must support your brothers in Palestine in word and deed.
